was defeated in a semi-final of the main draw by eventual winners Mike Happell and Brett Richardson in three straight sets of what was great tennis.

In the second (A) division Wayne Spring and David Parker came through a tough draw to prevail in three sets in the (best of three) final against Mebourne’s Ed and Hamish Welch who had previously defeated Ballarat’s other representatives, Michael and Paul Williams.  David appeared to seriously injure his ankle at the end of the first set in their semi-final but battled on and under Dr Spring’s supervision made a miraculous recovery overnight.  David and Wayne have been practicing hard for their upcoming representation in Australia’s over 50 team in the World Over age Championships in New York and appear to be peaking at just the right time.
