BTC Christmas Party 2022 – including farewell to Andrew Fowler as Club Pro

BTC members enjoyed a lively Christmas party on a warm Saturday evening, 10th December.

With many members contributing to organise and run the event, we were treated to a great spread of finger food, and many members chose to enjoy a meal, chat and drink or two outside on the patio. Kids were treated to their own snacks and make-your-own desserts bar!

On the court, we enjoyed watching a high-quality exhibition match – the A-grade club championship final between Will Hoskin and Mark Hartnell. In a well contested match, Mark found some of his best form to win in three sets.

The short formal part of the evening was to farewell Andrew Fowler and wife Maria, who both made a great contribution to BTC over the last five-and-a-bit years as club professional.

Cath Faull as representative of the BTC Board of Directors made a presentation to thank Andrew for his years of service – emphasising his dedication and enthusiasm for improving members’ tennis abilities. Maria also was thanked, including her time serving on the BTC committee and organising social events for the club. Cath presented Andrew with a knitted jumper feating his beloved Essendon Football Club.

After the formalities members enjoyed catching up – and many also partook of the cocktails being made by dynamic duo Jennifer and Gordon behind the bar – the Long Island Ice Teas and Woo Woos being a favourite.

All in all a great way to wrap up the year, and look forward to 2023, with BTC in the capable hands of incoming staff team of Cath Faull (club manager) and Paul Tabley (tennis professional). Thanks to all members who contributed to the event, but special thanks to Annie Strange who led event organising.
