The ancient game of real tennis will take centre stage at the Ballarat Tennis Club with a day of costumed exhibitions and interactive clinics celebrating the 800-year-old sport.
Spectators can enjoy two themed exhibition matches, with players dressed as historical figures from the 1200s to the 1800s. A singles match kicks off the day at 10am, followed by a doubles match at 2pm. Tickets for each match are sold separately via the Eventbrite booking form.
Visitors can also get on court themselves with one-hour group clinics held throughout the day at 11:30am and 3:30pm. No experience necessary – just wear non-marking shoes and dress warmly.
In the club room, guests will see traditional demonstrations of racquet repair and handcrafted ball making, and mingle with costumed characters in the unique Gallery viewing areas.
Free to attend, but bookings are essential due to limited seating. Costumes encouraged!
